Professional Musicians

Our professional musicians foster meaningful connections and relieve social isolation through the medium of music.

Meet the Pros

Concerts in Motion employs 130 pro musicians fluent in 19 languages and 16 musical genres. This is crucial to what we do, as our audience members come from a wide range of cultural communities.

Excellence in Musicianship

The professional musicians on our roster exhibit a high level of musicianship.

Accomplishments among our community include playing in Broadway orchestras, composing for movies and television, touring with world-famous musical artists, and performing at venues that include Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Met Opera House. We even have a Grammy winner on the roster!

Grounded by Training

All professional musicians on the Concerts in Motion roster are trained in Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed Care (PCTIC). Concerts in Motion serves older adults who may have experienced trauma, so it’s important that our musicians are not only highly talented but also display compassion throughout their engagement with members of our community.

Our Community Values

All professional musicians on our roster embody Concerts in Motion’s Community Values that permeate all aspects of our programming, both social and musical: respecting the dignity of all concert recipients, engaging with audiences with compassion in mind, and leading through listening.

“This is the most special part of performing for CiM—not only do I get feedback about the music but I get to hear stories about how the music brings memories to the recipient. Every performance I’ve done for CiM has had an impact on me.”

The Hiring Process

When you reach out to the Musician Manager, you will receive an email detailing the employment terms and conditions. You will be asked to present a resume of your performance and musical study history, as well as a few recent video clips of your past performances.

Hiring is typically done by filling vacancies in certain genres. Those who perform culturally-specific music, and those who speak languages other than English, are strongly encouraged to apply. If we are not hiring in a genre that you perform at the moment, you may be added to our waiting list.

CiM musicians are official employees and cannot be hired as independent contractors or under an LLC. We do not guarantee a certain volume of work. Most concerts take place between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.
